These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Kippo, the personalized children's audio-story service operated by Kippo AI ("Kippo," "we," "us," or "our"), available at getkippo.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who Can Use Kippo
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account and use the Service. Kippo is an adults-only service and is not intended for use by children. It is for adults who have the authority to provide and use information about the child for whom stories are created. Children do not create accounts or use the Service directly — a parent or guardian operates the account and plays the stories for the child.
By providing a child's name, likeness, or other details, you represent that you are that child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have the parent's or guardian's permission to do so. Creating stories featuring a child without that authority or permission is strictly prohibited.
You are responsible for all activity under your account.
2. The Service
Kippo lets you create personalized, AI-generated audio stories for children, including narration, music, and sound. You provide details (such as a child's name, age, and interests) and choose preferences, and the Service generates a story for you to play.
3. Accounts
You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us at support@getkippo.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation
Kippo offers a free tier and paid subscription plans (such as Storyteller, Storyteller+, and Family). Paid plans:
- are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor, Stripe;
- automatically renew each billing period until you cancel;
- include a set number of stories per billing period, which resets at renewal;
- can be canceled at any time from your account's billing settings, with access continuing through the end of the current paid period.
Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable. We may change our prices or plan features; we will provide notice of material changes, and any changes apply to future billing periods.
5. Voice Cloning
If you use the optional voice-cloning feature, you confirm that the voice you record or upload is your own, or that you have the explicit permission of the person whose voice it is. You may not upload anyone's voice without their consent, and you may not use the feature to impersonate others or for any unlawful purpose.
6. Acceptable Use
Prohibited Uses. You agree not to use Kippo to create, request, or attempt to generate any content that:
- sexualizes, endangers, or exploits a minor in any way. Kippo has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Any such attempt will result in immediate account termination and, where applicable, reporting to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement;
- is hateful, harassing, or discriminatory toward any person or group based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristic;
- is sexually explicit, obscene, or lewd;
- depicts gratuitous violence, gore, cruelty, or content intended to frighten, traumatize, or psychologically harm a child;
- promotes self-harm, dangerous acts, illegal activity, or use of illegal or regulated goods;
- harasses, bullies, threatens, or defames any real person; or
- infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights.
Kippo is intended solely to create safe, age-appropriate stories for children. Any attempt to misuse the Service for the purposes above is a material breach of these Terms and grounds for immediate suspension or permanent termination without refund. Kippo may use automated and manual measures to detect and prevent prohibited use.
7. Your Content and Generated Stories
The personalized story created for you belongs to you, for your personal and family use. You retain rights to the personal details and materials you provide, and you grant us a limited license to use them as needed to operate the Service and create your stories. We do not claim ownership of the personal details you provide.
The music, sound effects, ambient audio, and other non-personalized audio components used to produce stories are owned by Kippo and are shared across the Service. Kippo may keep, reuse, and incorporate these audio components into other stories and for other users.
8. AI-Generated Content
Stories and audio are produced using artificial intelligence. While we aim for age-appropriate, high-quality results, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors or unexpected material. You are solely responsible for reviewing each story for appropriateness — before generating its audio and before playing it for your child — and for deciding whether it is suitable for your child. Kippo is not responsible for any distress, discomfort, or other reaction a child may have to a story. The Service is for entertainment and does not provide professional, educational, medical, or developmental advice.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Kippo AI and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or technology except as needed to use the Service.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account, email support@getkippo.com, or, on a paid plan, choose deletion when you cancel. Our Privacy Policy explains how and when deletion happens. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk or legal exposure. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated content will meet your expectations.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kippo AI will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kippo AI from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
